The Free Card That Covers Your Gondolas, Trains, and Museums in Brixen, South Tyrol
The Mt. Plose gondola is free during part of the year in the Dolomites — here's how to time your visit so you don't miss it.

If you're planning a trip to the Brixen area, there's a guest perk that can quietly save your family a significant amount of money — and most travelers never hear about it until they're already there.
It's called the Brixen Südtirol Guest Pass, and as of September 4, 2026, it's offered by 282 partner accommodations across the region. It's included automatically when you book a stay at a participating hotel and given to you at check-in.
The Brixen Südtirol Guest Pass is designed to encourage you to explore Brixen, the lesser known area of the Dolomites. Each person in your group gets their own individual card, valid from the day of arrival through the day of departure.
What it covers:
- Regional trains across South Tyrol, from the Brenner Pass to Trento
- Local buses, including winter ski buses
- Select cable cars, including Bolzano–Renon and Bolzano–Colle
- One free roundtrip ride per day on the Plose gondola, Pfannspitze gondola, and Palmschoss lift, during set windows (more below)
- Daily entry to 10 regional museums, including the Diocesan Museum and Neustift Monastery
- 3 hours of daily pool access at Acquarena and other regional outdoor pools
- 25% off attractions like salt caves and adventure parks
What that actually saves you on mountain access:
The Brixen Südtirol Guest Pass includes one free round trip per day on each of three lifts: the Plose gondola, the Pfannspitze gondola, and the Palmschoss chairlift. A round-trip adult ticket on the Plose gondola alone normally runs €30 — for a family of four riding once a day, that's up to €120 saved daily on just that one lift.
For 2026, the free-ride window runs May 23 – July 10 and September 6 – November 1. If mountain access is a priority, plan your stay inside these dates to get the full value. As an added bonus, these dates are considered shoulder season, so you should encounter less tourists. Check here for 2027 updates.
